how the hell do you percieve the world around in one of those? (note i do not mean psychologically or philosophically i mean it in a literal sense like seeing or hearing, i am not trying to offend)

Depends on the suit, you can see through the eyes or mouth or tear-ducts, depending on how it's built. Hearing is sorta nil, since you usually have foam, fur and other materials over your ears. Touch is shot by the paws to a degree. Sight is limited to what it in front of you (mostly), so no peripheral vision to speak of. It is a challenge, so you practice. It is worth it, though.

yeah i was just thinking, one of my relatives worked in the minnie mouse costume at disney land very similar to your suits, one day a group of punks beat the crap out of her and she could not work again. there are a LOT of people out there who hate you guys with a passion, and if one or more tried to pick a fight with you guys, well damn... you can see where im going!

Well, this was at a convention, where I think it'd be unwise to pick a fight with a fursuiter...most of the people around would probably opt to kick your butt! Outside cons, we always try to have handlers around: people who aren't in suit, but who can step in or call for help if things get out of hand.
