Eew, white background. I know, I'm sorry. I should do smoethign with it, not sure what I'd do, though. But! This is one of my first marker images that I"m actually happy with, so hurray.
Just a little something I whipped up for ConDFW, drawn with black ink and Copic Markers on marker paper. I'm calling him Lill, since that was the name of the gryphon in the fantasy story I wrote years and years ago. I'm so happy with how his markings turned out! Expect some more gryphons in the future.

The original got gunk on it, so I had to draw in grass. Which is fine, I feel better about it not being a completely white background now. Should only pop up one more time.Edit 2: The original of this belongs to `amolerouth , and Larry Dixon, co-author of The Magewar Trilogy/The Black Gryphon, the man whose art and writings got me into gryphons and fantasy in the first place, bought a print of it from me! I call that very exciting.

this is just too cute for words. Looks like the lil thing is going to cry...love the coloring that you've done and how you've shaded and toned his entire body. Feels very special. And I think the pose is another cute feature to this character.

I really love the different strokes you have on this. It really creates a very fitting texture, and the hints of yellow/green and the red makes the image extremly rich.
The amount of time and detail you spent on this really paid off, it doesn't even look like marker, rather, it appears almost painted.
I think the grass is an excellent touch. Gunk can be an ally sometimes. It really plays off the red and yellow in him, and also makes it so he isn't just floating in the piece.

looks very sweet, especially through some strong expression and anatomy work upon it. Don't panic about the gunk that managed to show upon it - it still feels very thoughtful, and has managed to reflect upon the paper and the colors of the creature to fit the occasion. very sweetly done Kay

awwwwwwwwww its so cute! i love its eyes. Griffins are one of hte rarest fantasy creatures that are mentioned and or liked but i like them quite alot aside from my love for dragons.

I gotta say, it takes an incredible imagination to pull off a cute griffon concept. Most people tend to have the monstrous image of them etched into their minds it's hard to think of the griffon as something that, were it real, had to have been an adorable little youth at some point.
But I'm ramblin'. The main point is it's outta the box as far as I'm concerned and that's kickass as far as I'm concerned.

One tiny critique, that for some reason bothers me - the grass seems a bit out of place in the picture. If you shade underneath him, I think that the grass would interact with the rest of the picture nicely. Otherwise - lovely job!
