Description Repent - To make a change for the better as a result of remorse or contrition for one's sins.

Wallpaper pack

Here's a nice little change from my last two submissions, for those who have decided I'm losing my mind.
While rushing across campus one dreary day, this caught my eye. Amazing what you can find, in the strangest places, when you're just trying to get from point A to point B.

From Wikipedia:

In the New Testament, the word translated as "repentance" is the Greek word μετάνοια (metanoia), "after/behind one's mind", which is a compound word of the preposition 'meta' (after, with), and the verb 'noeo' (to perceive, to think, the result of perceiving or observing). In this compound word the preposition combines the two meanings of time and change, which may be denoted by 'after' and 'different'; so that the whole compound means: 'to think differently after'. Metanoia is therefore primarily an after-thought, different from the former thought; a change of mind accompanied by regret and change of conduct, "change of mind and heart", or, "change of consciousness".

Note me your email and I'll send you a wallpaper version. The print sells pretty well so I'd like to keep it under fairly tight wraps, but I'd be happy to give ya a larger version so long as it stays with you.

i do love random, obscure graffiti. a few months ago, all these 'get out of Portsmouth free' cards appeared on all the pavements and subways overnight, and it was awesome.

i like the colours in this - whereabouts what it taken?

and...do you repent?

Every now and again you can find some really cool stuff. This was actually done on a four foot tall wall at the campus near my house. I was actuallly laying on the ground, it's only a few inches from the sidewalk. The color's odd because I scanned in the negative and didn't color correct, then jut toyed with the color balances to get a good grungy look, the original isn't half as cool.

It came out pretty well, i wouldn't say the colour was odd. grunginess works. i might see if i can nab a camera and go looking for cool graffiti in portsmouth

Nice! I love the cold harsh surroundings and how that one word has been painted, no more to surround it. Such a simple yet powerful message.

I like how you can't really tell how big anything is or supposed to be in this picture because there's nothing to really reference it by...so the repent feels much bigger than it probably is.

By the same token, it's amazing what you can find on walls these days, ain't it?

Looks like it's been extracted from a movie or a fantasi......A fantasi that must have emurged from some dark thrillerbook or nightmare...And in the mittle of this scaring fantasi is a message....A message with a word that contains a word so strong and meaningfull... .. . . . . .

Fantastic work. The word repent really adds some kinda cold atmosphere to the picture. Like the only way to get rid of your sins is to walk down this road. The fact we only see the beginning of the road/lane makes us imagine more wot it is ure gonna have to face whilst going down it. Beautiful colours, I love this sorta pic, it makes you think. great work. keep it up hun.

excellent.. dramatic ..the muted monochromatic colors add to the mood and the gloomy message in proximity to the "gutter" shout to the viewer .

sorry if it seems I take a long time before I reply or comment .. I try to

get to all on my watch but between doing my own work and dealing with

family and medical issues .. I'm slow .. for that I apologize

Really nice.

The way you decided to focus in on the word repent, draws the viewer in. The depressing settings around the word really makes you sit back and think about the situation.

The surrounding trash, and the way the wall and street leads off the page, leaves the viewer to comtemplate the meaning of the image, which I love.

Very much conceptual in nature.

i think this would work a lot better if the word was in sharper focus. it blurs quite a bit, which gives it almost the feel of a painting, but at the same time draws away focus. anyway, if it -was- a painting it wouldn't matter, but as a photograph...

and on a completely different note, the colours are fantastic.

I feel kind of slow making such a simple comment, but I love this. I like the litter and the lighting and how it draws you away from the REPENT into the brighter part of the picture. From darkness into light, if you don't mind the cliche.

You make me glad I decided to watch you.

Very... out the blue.

I always think of repent as a somewhat negative word... I don't know why, perhaps it's just a brain thing.
