In my modern AU, Komui and Lenalee lost their parents when Komui was still in high school and Lena was 4-5ish. He had a lot of scholarships to really great schools, but instead he chose to take full custody of Lenalee to ensure that she grew up well and loved. He does online school, but was very active in the PTA and was the leader of Lena’s girl scout troop while she grew up. He also made sure she had healthy lunches and a good snack every day when she got home from school. She worries that he holds it against her that he had to stop pursuing his dreams of going to an ivy league school, but he thinks it was an absolute honor to take care of his little sister.
