Thanks! Yea, it really is a sore subject here in Houston at Mission Control that NASA is no longer really NASA. The salt on the wound was when Obama snubbed us when deciding on who should get a shuttle. This is just a replica. The asshole in chief decided that New York and California should get shuttles, but not MISSION CONTROL! New York and California have sooo much to do with NASA after all. So, he showed how much he hates Texas and the South by giving Mission Control a replica.

Waaaaaaaait what? New York doesn't even do shit when it comes to the space program, it's Florida and Texas :/ I thought one went to the Smithsonian museum in DC and Β the Kennedy space center kept one. It wasn't Obama who made the decision (meh I still don't like him), it was Nasa that did. The thing that influenced the decision was that the museums/institutions had to put in a proposal to get the space shuttles and whoever had the best proposal and tourism counts got the real deal or so they said plus they had to pay like 28 million dollars to move and restore the shuttles for display. So someone could have had a better proposal, which I still don't understand why they didn't keep two and then send the others away, but maybe mission control doesn't have the same tourism numbers as Kennedy Space Center---all a money game because someone/several someones slashed NASA's budget....... (I currently dislike all politicians regardless of leaning so).
At least NASA is still working on the Orion project so we can stop hitching a ride on the Russians. It's supposed to be test launched in this December....but who knows how the timeline will go.Β

It was at the suggestion of the Obonzo administration that New York receive a shuttle, and so they complied. But, hey... we received two seats -- yes, two seats -- from a shuttle's flight deck and a replica shuttle. I guess we should be glad that the 747 is real, eh? (Yes, that was sarcasm)
Our Mission Control area actually has huge a tourism industry. Space Center Houston is the family theme-park style attraction, but Johnson Space Center is where you go behind the scenes at Mission Control. The majority of our astronauts live and train here and in fact you can watch them train... well, you could when NASA was actually NASA. Heck, about 15 miles from the Space Center you will see many businesses with a space/NASA theme. One McDonald's even has an "Astronaut" hovering above the roof "fixing" the golden arches!
Anyway, New York, California, Florida and DC/Smithsonian are the ones who have a shuttle though we are fighting and raising money to get NY's as they have no need for it. It needs to come home to retire.

LMAO @ Garbanzo! Well, that may not be too far off since garbanzo is a common word for the chickpea. We all know how much the Obama's love chickpeas as they are forcing students to eat hummus in schools. Seth said when they served him hummus every single day of the week he then decided to no longer buy his lunch.
I am so disappointed about the space program too. There are talks about some very wealthy people wanting to privately fund space exploration the way NASA used to do. Would be nice if someone could get us back into orbit and exploring and inventing life altering products like in the past. NASA has given us so many daily use products we take for granted, I wish they would continue that, at least.
