Description
This is the duotone of my CD cover with the original colors. Again, dirty lines and hard shading, no cel-shading but heavy shadingThe wolf isn't the wolf form of the girl but rather the solid form of her fears and doubts.

sort of. The idea was the image being inside her head. The wolf representing her fear, and once she tames her fear, that emotion springs knowledge, illumination.

Nah, just a character made at the moment. actually, it was inspired by Tori Amos' video for the cover of Strange Little Girl. In the video, Tori was running away from a huge black wolf, and as she ran towards a lonely house she becomes a child and back to adult again. Once in the house, the wolf becomes huge and starts crushing the house until Tori lets it in, and then the wolf becomes so little it fits in a matchbox.

I've seen the video, but your wolf looks more cooler(and bigger) than the one in the video ^^

think about it in a primitive kind of way.
go alone into the wilderness, maybe a weapon clutched in your hand.
You feel the hairs on your nape standing on end and decide, "Fuck it! I'm out of here!" and you leave, never crossing that pack of wild animals that would have pounced on you if you had walked that extra step.

I cruise through your gallery, seeing multiple pictures I have seen many months ago (which gives me nostalgia like you wouldn't believe) and this deviation just catches my eye for some reason. Which shall be stated below.
I like how you really show that less is more, but that is just the artwork. I love the bold shading and the interestingly placed lighting that sets off an almost vibrantly lonely mood, especially along the wolf's body. The tree (I believe it's a tree, forgive me if I'm wrong) is wicked awesome on how bright it is in contrast to the rest of the drawing, definate major props to ya!
As for the concept, that is definately the highlight of it all. Wonderful personification that subtly stretches out to make a point. Simply said, great work!

when i saw the pic, i really thought that wolf was the girl's guardian of a sort. then i saw the description...
the girl's eyes looked like they matched the wolf's, so... yeah. is that right? or is it just a vague observation on my part? ehe. the pic's mood is just... so cool, for lack of a better term. it's deliciously dark and ethereal, yet there's a sweetness in how the little girl just leans into the wolf like that, considering a wolf that large wouldn't look too friendly.

This is so beautiful...It has such a sad kind of feeling to it. It's very calming and mellow. The wolf here..is just...so...CUTE! X3 I want to curl up against him and cuddle X3 He looks very fluffy ^_^ And the girl..like I said before..I really like her design and her eye color. It just sticks out X3 YAY! LURV!

They seem so calm in that darkness. It's like that tree gives light to her, showing her fears and doubts to herself and others. The tree really goes nicely with all that dark shading. I really love that wolf, that fur, I want to pet it so much X3

if you notice, the wolf seems resigned to be under the girl. The girl has controled her fears and she no longer runs from them. instead, she uses them

This is a very powerful image you got here. The wolf, as you say, is meant to be a symbol of the girl's fears so she should hate it but here it shows them 'getting along' like the wolf is protecting her or wants to be accpeted by her.
The lighting effect adds a fantastical touch to the otherwise dark and pretty grim atmosphere created by the dark colours and 'heavy' shading XD.

in a primal sense, our fears are designed to protect us of harm, only when we let our fears grow is when they start to control us. If we control them then they'll protect us again. at least that's what I think X)

It sort of seems like the wolf is keeping her safe, rather than being her fears and doubts (i.e. something negative). It's really good ^_^. This is just my interpretation of it, but the tree looks like a hand reaching to grab her, and the wolf is protecting her from it. Oh well
