Description Some year before the South Strelkan invasion , the Strelkan Ministry of Defense asked for a fast bomber capable to break throught the Enemy Anti Aircraft Defense with enough firepower to defends himself from any aerial threats. The technical solution provided by the engineering team was not common with a blended wing configuration combined with a double fuselage that allowed faster speeds than the current aircrafts of this time. But because of his complexity and the tide of the war who turned into a long term conflict, this plane was produced in fewer units than expected, at the end of the Great war , less than 150 units were builts, and were more used for recon purposes than bombing missions.

Seems like a lot of reimagining of Crimson Skies aircraft. Interesting.

This one strongly resembles the 109Z and the Twin Mustang. Looks impressive.

Looks an awful lot like the P-38 Lightning.

Other than the twin engines and dual fuselage I would disagree. Β The Lightning has a petruding cockpit bubble (with 360 visability) in the middle of the front wing as opposed to this plane with the cockpit more or less integrated into the wing. Β As for the tail, The P-38's was not elevated as this one is. Β And the P-38s wings were not swept backwards as this one is. Β Also no turrets on the lightning. Β I believe there was a German prototype (maybe) that resembled this plane a little more that you may be thinking of.

AWESOME design! It seems like a blend of a P-38 Lighning, De Haviland Mosquito and a STUKA divebomber and probably a few Ive missed).
One thing though; what is the rather large glazed midwig section for?

dan338 In reply to nordicberserk [2014-06-05 21:02:41 +0000 UTC]

thanks,

the midwing glass section is an observation deck for the bomber or to provide good point of view for recon purposes

I like the "twins" design (P-82, Bf-109Z, He-111Z...) and like your's.

As usual I never comment to only say "it's good", here's my critics

1) The front gunner would have a very limited area to shoot if he don't want to be in a single engine plane... (that's why my designs like this usually have one front propeller and the other one on the back)

2) the center wing would be better used by fuel and payload than viewport.

3) How are your landing gear?

It's a very nice work but there's always some questions...

dan338 In reply to cedtomcat [2013-12-29 08:40:53 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the comment I appreciate every help and every advice to improve my drawnings

1) About the landing gear , It would be stored the twins fuselages , with the main landing gear close to the wings trailing edge or wings main beamΒ  ( according to the Center of Mass location ) , and the secondary close to the engines for driving purposes on the ground. At the end it would have 4 landing gears , 2 landing gear ( main and secondary) under each fuselage.

2) For the payload in the center wing , if it would have been used as a bomber the wing would be used for bomb storage , but in the description I was saying the bomber was turned into a fast plane for scouting missions , and the wing was turned into an observation deck .

3) I noticed later te mistake in my plane design , with the turret close to the engine and the prop... trying to figure out howΒ  to change this.

A good critic is always better than just a "Wow, good work"

1) why not a landing gear like the bf-109z? Basically keeping the landing gear of the initial plane, look here for what I mean :Β www.hyperscale.com/2008/featur…

It would mean less enginering and a easier way to find spare part (unless the TBF don't exist in your world)

2) As for bomber converted for the reco in real world, I still think the "bomb bay" would have been used for fuel. Range is very important for a reco plane, especially carrier based. (You don't say that it's carrier based on your description but I stay on the TBF specification)

3) The solution can be something like that :Β www.avionslegendaires.net/wp-c…

Add an pusher motor on the right of the plane. (God I love asymetrical planes )

thanks for your advices
like you said , the TBF doesn't exist in my world ( even if it look like a Twin TBF , I didn't noticed that....).
