Description "Long ago,
It seems so long ago,
How young and innocent we were.
She may not remember me,
But I remember her...." - Raoul in "The Phantom of the Opera"

I got "The Phantom of the Opera Companion" book (the one mainly about the 2004 film) yesterday, and on the pages that introduce the cast there are pictures of the Phantom, Christine, and Raoul that I've never seen before. The picture of Raoul is probably one my favorite pictures of him, so I decided to draw it. In no way did I do the picture justice, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out, anyways.

One of my favorite things about the original picture was how it captured the strong, kind, and aristocratic aspects of Raoul. He was a man of military back-round, no doubt having been trained in the art of sword-fighting (at least, that's what I think, considering he basically defeated the Phantom in their sword-fight).

Although I enjoy a good Raoul joke as much as the next Phan, I think people (myself included) can be a bit too hard on the guy at times. In my opinion, he honestly loved Christine and wanted to protect her, even though I think his jealousy and pride took over sometimes.

P.S. Wonky right eye is wonky.

I KNOW THIS ART. I RECOGNIZE THIS DRAW.. !!!11/1!1!!!

So I finished reading the original book like half an hour ago and now it's time for me to watch the movie/play and see how much it bastardized the book. I'll tell you one thing, book!Phantom was no Gerard Butler. He was more like a walking skeleton.

Idk if you've read the book, but Raoul is actually like 100% good guy, his big flaw being his jealousy and later total abhorrence towards Erik. I'm interested to see how his character will be represented in Weber's play (I've only ever seen the beginning.)

Lovely drawing, as usual. But you already know that.

FOR REAL?! That's so awesome!!!

Ah! I've read the book! It's really good!

Ooooh, you've never seen the movie? Well, I can tell you that it definitely differs from the book in some parts.

Yeah, Book!Erik is definitely not Gerard Butler!

Actually, my favorite portrayal of Raoul is Patrick Wilson's Raoul in the 2004 film. He's super sweet and adorable, and I don't know why some people dislike him so much.

Thank you so much!!! And thanks for telling me about this!

Patrick Wilson! One the only things that made the 2004 movies worth while and you really did him justice here!
