Caladan Brood AND Ered Wethrin! Wow, seems you are handling the art for many bands I enjoy. Definitely following your work, it's lovely!

Thank you very much! I'm fortunate that some good bands have recommended me to other good bands really.

Will you be uploading strictly commissioned work, or will you upload your own work as well? I'd just love to see more of it is all.

Hi Vetisx. I'll upload anything that I feel is good enough . Until now I've only had time to create illustrations that had a purpose - for bands, but hopefully in 2014 I'll find time to do some uncommissioned pieces for my own satisfaction.

A lovely piece! Β

I really enjoy the mountains and the castles but my eyes keep getting drawn to that the full moon; I really like the soft glow you created with it. Β Very cool! Β

Thank you for a very considered appraisal. You're right to identify the moon as the focal point. As this was a design for a CD album cover I was mindful of having a central anchor point. I always like to have some very central or symmetrical element to my illustrations even when most of the composition is random and asymmetrical. It helps to anchor the overall design and give it a balance. It also provides placement for logos and titles if need be.

Excellent info, thank you for providing! Β  Β

The idea of something symmetrical in a mostly asymmetrical drawing is very interesting to me. Β (I have a tendency towards randomness, hehe! Β  ) Β I've always felt that a chaotic piece still needs a focal point, otherwise it is JUST chaos with no one place to settle your eye upon. Β And I think chaos can be so much better defined when it has contrast. Β  Β

Although "Ered Wrethin" does not embody disorder, I still appreciate how you've drawn the focus towards the moon. Β An anchor as you say and a highly beneficial placement if a logo indeed needs to be worked in! Β Β

And that's precisely where the logo (which I also designed) has been placed - under the moon. See:Β www.northern-silence.de/files/…

Thank you. It had to be done within quite a short amount of time, so it's not too detailed. But I think I managed to capture the right atmosphere.
