I so love your works!

Just because I am curious: do xou sell your work and if so, what would a Schiavona (Type 1) be?

Thanks! Yes I do sell it, it is my only job. A Type1 would be around Β£550 and at the moment the waiting time is about two years.

That's a bit of a dull tip for a rapier, isn't it? o_O

That's a basket hilt too basket for a rapier. And a pommel to heavy for a rapier. And a blade to large and short for a rapier. Hold on, that's not a rapier!
It's a blunt blade for sparring, like many of the swords here

1 - Alright, I was wrong. I accept that. But, to me who has little knowledge of swords, a flat blade with twin edges and no curves, it looks like a rapier.

2 - Insulting me will do you no good but make yourself look stupid, so I'd appreciate if you try to actually be civil and not rub it in when someone makes a mistake.Β

It was just some simple irony, if I wanted to insult you I could have actually insulted you.

Your comment, on the other hand, was actually questioningΒ publiclyΒ what I do for a living and you didn'tΒ care of spending 1 minute to google it before calling it dull. Does it make it more civil only because of the tone chosen?

A rapier is, by definition, a thin, long, sword, which mostly thrust. There're many sword types, most of which are flat, double edges blades and still very different from each other.Β

By dull I meant that the tip wasn't... pointy. As I said, I thought it was a rapier (which it wasn't), and I had the notion that a rapier used for practice would have a plastic "thing" to blunt it, rather than simply dull it down so that it's no longer pointy.Β

At any rate, you must remember that I, unlike you, know very little when it comes to swords. I saw a thin, double edged sword obviously not made for slashing, and with a somewhat fancy guard (which I, at least, associate with rapiers. Blame the flashy decorative swords), and I immediately thought "Rapier." What you seem to take as an insult is nothing but lack of knowledge on my part, so if I have somehow insulted you by not knowing, I apologise.Β
It's not so much a matter of not caring or bothering to check on google, but rather being assured in my own knowledge, not knowing that what knowledge I do possess is wrong. I made an honest mistake, and that's it. I didn't intend to insult, in any way.Β

If I am to be honest, I don't know what about my comment you see as questioning what you do for a living. I thought it was a rapier (with a filed down tip, not dulled with plastic or cord or whatever like I thought one would use), and I commented based on that assumption, at which point you reply with a comment that feels like an attack at me as a person, and not just a reply informing me that I was wrong and correcting me on the matter.Β

Anywho, I apologise if I insulted you by my lack of knowledge, and I would appreciate it if you, in the future, simply corrected people who makes comments like mine rather than send them some condescending remark like the one you directed at me.Β

If I remember right, these were swords used in and around Venice by the stradiots circa the 16th century, right? Where and whenever it's from, it's a gorgeous piece of work. Oh if I could hang this on my living room wall.

Oh even historians don't have much of a grasp about swords! I love that sword too, is a perfect balance between military and personal weapon. Though in a duel a rapier would probably win
