She was out for revenge, and he didn't even know her face! Not a problem, she thought, smiling grimly as she tightened the straps of her gas mask and waited for him to come home. He didn't need to know who she was. He just needed to take one deep breath for her... one deep breath and he wouldn't even have the strength left to go for his gun!

I wanted to do something in 1940s style again. I have such fun with the retro stuff! I love the lurid crime comics and noir films from the era, they're so great. I imagined this as a panel from an EC comic or something similar.
Her mask is basically a Tissot mask. 9 times out of 10 when a comic book artist of this era wanted to draw a "gas mask" they would draw a crude version of the Tissot. It more or less defined the look of a gas mask for a generation, with a breathing hose coming out of the center of a simple facepiece. You can see it in Wonder Woman comics.
Dare I say I'm actually kind of pleased with this one? I had fun with brushes, I didn't go crazy on detail, her mask was drawn 100% freehand from memory with no photo references.
This one is a present for Lonepyne and Gadeto.
