A little fun fact that two of my friends own an actual real articulated bus, an Ikarus 280 made in 1987 which they bought last year when Budapest public transit company (BKV) offered its old Ikarus buses for sale.
Ikarus 280 were legendary in the Eastern Bloc, but they are very rare in regular service now since their production ended in 2002 (after being in production for almost 30 years). Here in Hungary there are only 6 diesel Ikarus 280s still in service among with 13 Ikarus 280 trolleybuses. The capital city, Budapest said goodbye to Ikarus 280s (and all remaining high-floor buses, such as Ikarus 260 and 435) in November 2022.
One of the last places where these old buses could be found in Budapest was Káposztásmegyer so when my friends organised a photo tour last November, we had to visit that part of the city. The picture was taken at Káposztásmegyer, Szilas-patak terminus, where Ikarus 280 used to be a common sight. The most common buses there now are the MAN Lion's Cities, which are operated by Arrivabus and they have been set in service 6 months after the Ikarus 280s' farewell
