Oil and mixed media, 20" by 20".
Based off of essentially a waking nightmare. Biking home in the pre-dawn hours in Brooklyn after my soul devouring day job, I felt I was drowning in the faceless city. Purity Records, an upstart label with it's first release about to come out, asked me to do a front and back cover for their album. They gave me complete freedom on the subject matter. So I painted this. I found an old television that someone had thrown to the curb, smashed the screen, and glued pieces of the glass to the painting. To me it represented how, even after if I somehow managed to free myself from the drowned city, there was still that veneer of glossy, heavily doctored media facetiousness that I still needed to break though.
