Description The Milky Way
Banff National Park

This image can also be viewed on my website: www.photographybydani.com

It was a spectacularly clear night and I set out to do some stargazing. There was no moon in sight so the stars were extra bright.
This was the first time I could view the MIlky Way clearly with my own eyes without having to use my camera to find
it in the night sky. The MIlky Way is illuminating the Valley Of The Ten Peaks mountain range over looking Moraine Lake.

how far from a big city do you need to go to take such amazing long exsposure pictures ?

a half hour or an hour from any large city.. maybe 2 hours from any realllllly big city. but its hard to go far enough away from one city without bumping into another one.

By the way, was this taken along the road behind Moraine Lake, or did you trek?

oh, my god.. this is incredible
weren't you scared an animal would attack you out there in the middle of the night?
also, have you found the milky way visible from the town?

I was out last night doing this but when I came to process this morning I found HUGE amounts of noise. Anything you could recommend to get something as clear as yours?

Dani-Lefrancois In reply to Free2Fall [2011-07-25 22:48:40 +0000 UTC]

Lightroom has amazing noise reduction! That's all I used and mine was gross with noise!

I actually was looking into that this morning. I think it might have something to do with the program i am using atm to read the RAW files. Thanks for replying. I might invest in it. I shall investigate it a little more.

no.. not as intense as this. I left the shutter open longer to get this shot. i do have a shot of what it looked like to me tho. I could actually point it out in the sky, but i had never been able to do before.
