This is actually a developed figure I've been working on. It started out as Gortoz a Ran J'Attends , which developed into the pen sketch , and then this painting, which is just... the pen sketch... in paint.
I'm pretty pleased with this.
48x24 inch canvas, wallhang thickness, textured with modeling paste.

I'm partial to blues and winged things anyway, but the simplicity of this is what makes it stand out most. I like that the figure isn't centered on the canvas, leaving the texture of the background to imply all manner of things lurking back there. Nice choice and use of colour to set the tone. In all honesty, I spent quite some time just taking in all the details in this piece. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly - the execution and concept is beautiful, of course - but overall this piece has a quality that resonates and lingers. I look forward to looking through the rest of your gallery.
