Yes, If you want to you can draw it.

It's his nictitating membrane which is closed.

He, not she. It's a male raven. And yes, the falconer threw the head of a day-old-chick into the air and Rudi started immediately to get it.

The first thing to catch my attention was the bird's eye. It made me think of the zombified ravens in Resident Evil...

Hehe! Just in case you don't know: It's the nictitating membrane.

Ah, thanks! I remembered somebody telling me birds don't have eyelids, but I couldn't think of what they had instead.

Well, they do have eyelids, like we do. It's just that their nictitating membrane isn't vestigial, like ours is. It helps protect their eyes when feeding young, and can be used to help keep the eyes moist and free of debris when flying at high speeds. Some mammals like beavers and sealions have a fully functional nictitating membrane. Our vestigial membrane (called the semilunar fold) can be seen if you gently pull back your eyelids and locate the pink flesh in the corner closest to your nose, forming a slight crescent around your eye.

Also, the dominant eyelid in birds is the bottom lid, so their eyes appear to close from the bottom, whereas the dominant eyelid in mammals is the top eyelid.

Oh, how cool! Thank you for elaborating, Ara-Tun.

No problem! I worked with birds of prey for about a year and a half, and part of that job was educating people about the birds, so I have a lot of trivia about them.
