Are you aware that airfix and Special Hobby both do a 1/48 Spitfire XII? Might be easier than converting?

No! Sadly too late as I have a Tamiya Mk Vb. half built. Looks like I may have to do a sister ship in the future I cannot just have a single lonely Mk XII on the shelf to intimidate my cat with... Thank you for the tip!
