Not very soon, but we will see the end of the piloted military aircraft in our lifetime.

Not likely. Machines can be circumvented, taken control of. No nation will risk their strategic arsenal out of manned control.

Didn't say their would be no human interaction at all. There will be a network that people will oversee. Just no one physically in the aircraft itself.

It's easy to think of military aircraft as only strike capable machines, forgetting that there are a great deal of other roles that aircraft play in the military, including transportation of personnel/troops, Search and Rescue, Medevac etc and many more roles that would require a human on board. Personally I cannot ever see a time where there will be no need for boots on the ground so to speak, even with UAVs becoming ever more useful, in this case the logistics of transporting and supporting troops will l remain too and likely always require some form of manned aircraft.

Talking direct combat aircraft. The fighters, fighter-bombers and bombers. All craft dealing with scouting and survailience also. The other aircraft catagories will likely remain crewed.
In the end, all military systems are only the support for what matters in the end; Combat Infantry.

But... That can be hacked. For absolute control, it must be manual, and therefore manned.

That's why having a cyber branch dedicated to dominating the 5th Dimension of war Cyber Space (the 3 physical spaces and time being the others) is very important. Our wasteing time on creating an "Outer Space" branch and not focusing on the far more immediate concern of Cyber warfare is foolish.
Manned miliary aircraft won't vanish from the scene. But we will see "direct combat" planes, the "tip of the spear", become re-mote piloted vehicles in a generation or so. Any system that support thats "spear" will require human inter-action.
I'd rather combat planes always be manned. But the presence of the human body puts a limit on the abilities of an combat aircraft and we've pushed the human form to it's own limits to keep up. The removing of the physical human from the vehicle so it can reach the next level of ability may prove too tempting for future policy makers.

Yes... THAT is the real strength of the F-35 (IF it works... God, I hate that plane.) the ability to network.
One pilot could fly with a bunch of UAVs as wingmen. They carry munitions, but they can't be armed except via SHORT range (Keeping ground based hackers out of the equation) from a HUMAN.
As far as Space, we HAVE to go there. In fact, if you REALLY want to be scared, look at "World population versus clean water." VERY soon, humanity will be upside down on clean food and water. In fact, we are ALREADY artificially inflated as a population due to fertilizer.

We have had some planes go through development hell and come out the other end to be outstanding machines. But I have my doubts if that will include the F-35.
As for Space, yes it is very important, but since that will require even more computers and automated machines, so covering Cyber Space is something that should get a handle on first starting with EMP defense.
What scare me the most: Weaponized nannites.

Well, weaponized nanites don't exist yet, but... our need for water does. Take a look at "Limits to Growth." Google that.
