Marvelous - how long have they had that screen down the motorway end ?

There are two screens, one down at the M11 end as you can see, and another just by the American Air Museum, they are not permanent and are only brought in for the airshows but they first appeared at the Battle of Britain show back in 2015 and have been at every show since. They use it to show Planes TVs live coverage of the event and also to occasionally they will have something relevant to show such as historic footage or interviews with veterans etc. Personally I'm not a fan of them, but then if I'm honest I haven't been a fan of many of IWMs recent innovations... Some of which whiffs of men in suits coming up with ideas to justify their position on the payroll. DX17 being a good example, somebodies great idea to spend a vast amount of money on a art project rather than using it to help preserve the aircraft.

Last time I went was July 2015 so I missed them. Made me think of the festival screens and like you, I don't go a lot on them.
Next year I'm making a come back as I have missed too much.

What a thing to see.
The (probably) air display we will be seeing in England will be my wife's first. If she enjoys it, and we come to England again, I will suggest we come over later in the year and be at Duxford for the Battle of Britain display.

It's well worth it I can assure you, the Spitfire formation and tail chase would be worth the airfare alone. Once the formation does a few passes, hell breaks loose as they break into two separate groups and proceed to beat up the airfield in a tail chase, one section to the rear of the field and another in front of the crowd. It really is one of those displays that fills the sky and you don't know where to look.
