Description

Another sprite for my Roseburg & Western. This time of the R&W's go anywhere, do anything workhorse, Fletcher.

Bio: Fletcher is a USRA Light 2-8-2 Mikado built in 1918 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, PA. He originally worked for the Southern Railway, pulling freight and occasionally passenger trains. Fletcher worked on the Southern until the end of steam in 1953 and was put into storage until 1970. He was bought by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, but didn't work on that railroad for very long. After former shedmate No. 4501 was restored, Fletcher was put into storage for a year then was bought again by the North Carolina Transportation Museum in 1982. After arriving in Spencer, he was given new parts, new paint and on March 1983, was ready to start excursion work. Fletcher pulled excursions from Spencer to Roanoke, VA, but around 1992, the museum was having some difficult financial choices. And sadly he was once again put into storage in the roundhouse and the excursions were canceled two years later. So Fletcher sat in the roundhouse for three years, with parts started to rust away and paint chipping off. Fianally, Fletcher was bought by the Roseburg and Western Railroad in Arkansas. After a two-year overhaul in the East Roseburg shops, Fletcher rolled out under his own power, sporting a rather unique paint job. Nowadays, Fletcher is primarily seen working on the Hippdale Branch. He is the largest and strongest engine on the branch, and as a result, of all the Hippdale engines, is the one seen most often on the mainline, hauling slow local freights as well as rear-end helper service up Cleburne Hill.

Personality: Fletcher is very kind hearted and is willing to help his friends. But he is not so easy to fool when it comes to pranks or tricks. He loves his girlfriend Kira the N&W M class 4-8-0. He can be a bit protective of his friends and family if he has to. But other than that he is a very sweet and kind hearted locomotive.
