In the 1991 version of The Little Engine That Could, it's interesting to note that Farnsworth, a shiny modern diesel, is pulling these old fashioned passenger cars. Kinda weird, isn't it?

Yeah, but then again, the animators weren't really going for realism.

I'm not a big fan of too much realism, to be honest. I crave the unusual, which is why I never truly hated Diesel 10 or Belle (other than never getting to know why they have those modifications in the first place) in Thomas and Friends; in fact, my favorite episode from Season 6 has got to be Thomas and the Jet Engine. It's a shame it only appeared in one episode. For a while, I've come up with episode ideas that feature the jet engine.

I don't mind having a little bit weirdness in TTTE every once in a while as long as it doesn't go too far.

Well, don't be shocked to discover how weird fan-made Thomas shows are on YouTube, especially Thomas Comedies and Tomy Thomas and Friends.

Long story short, surrealism might not be your biggest cup of tea (if it goes too far), but I'm always open to the idea. Thankfully, not every fan-made Thomas show is like the ones I mentioned; there's NWR1991's North Western Railway Tales and WildNorWester's Sodor the Early Years, both of which stay true to Awdry-styled realism.

That's good, then there's JamesFan1991's series which balances out fan-made stuff with Awdry/TV stuff.
