Description
I have several ideas for books I want to write, & so I'll be uploading the manuscript covers I create for each book I plan on writing. This is for a book I plan on writing with the working title of "Jazzman's Jukebox". Should a future agent want to see my manuscript for this story, this'll be the cover I will use!
This story is part of a special category of fiction I call "Love Letter Fiction". In other words, it's a work of literature heavily inspired by something the author loves, & done with great love & admiration. This story will be my love letter to the internet famous band Postmodern Jukebox & to its founder Scott Bradlee. The story I have in mind is a jukebox musical set in 1950's New York City about a young couple, a pianist & a singer, who put together a band to help them raise money to pay off their rent. The band starts off with a few friends that include a drummer from Harlem, a feminist singer of Irish descent, & a Filipino Broadway actress. Then, as the story continues, they recruit other colorful characters including a greaser, a beatnik, a clown, his monkey, & two immigrant children who tap dance & play the tambourine. All the while, the story deals with conflicts involving past heartbreak, finding good gigs, & a cynical music critic who constantly trashes their shows. Oh, & as mentioned before, this story is a jukebox musical, which means they sing contemporary songs in different styles - akin to the great musical Moulin Rouge! Actually, that's a good way of describing this story: Postmodern Jukebox meets Moulin Rouge! & The Blues Brothers.
The cover features a scene taking place at the beginning of the story, in which we see our main characters putting on a show at a nightclub. The pianist, whose name is Daniel (NO, he's not named after me - Scott Bradlee's old landlord used to call him that), is playing the piano, while his beautiful wife, whose name is Darlee, sings. The opening number I have in mind is a jazz rendition of Paramore's "Still Into You". All the while, the story's villain, the music critic named Todd Shadows, watches them with disgust.
For a better understanding, here's the rendition of "Still Into You" they're singing:

I haven't written this story yet, but I have a plan for how it's going to go down. But in the meantime, I did illustrate an earlier sneak peak of this story back when I did my first Inktober challenge. Since then, I feel I've improved my style for the better. You can see that here:

Anyway, I hope that this gives you guys a good idea of what to expect for the future, & I hope you guys like this manuscript cover. I'll certainly do more of these soon, so keep an eye out for them!
