I WILL!!!!! ^ ^ could use your advise on some things as well, they say the AAU dorms are a bust so we need to rent instead... think you can shed some light on cheap rental places...? We have a lot of time so that won't be an issue ^ ^

^^ ^^ Well, alas, one of the few "down" things about San Francisco is that it's virtually impossible now to find "cheap" rentals here. A decent little studio apartment will easily go for $750 to $1,000 per month; a 2 or 3 bedroom unit, $1,500 to well over $2,000 per. And in most cases, you'll need to put up first & last months rent + a damage/security deposit to move in. "Deals" can be found, but finding them requires much research/networking, running around & luck. You may have to opt for the dorms until you can work something out. Does the school offer any help to finding places? Can you share a place with someone? There are also several public & private rental agencies/services here that can help with this. I'll see what I can find. In the meantime, do a Google search. As you say, there's plenty of time, so you should be able to secure something workable...

Good you're coming with a friend. There are some nice low cost (for S.F.) hostel type places to stay in the City, which might be a viable alternative temp place to stay here until you find a place, if needed...
