Description
This picture is of a Yu-Gi-Oh Red Eyes Black Dragon, I drew this while visiting my mother back in Feb, '04. I started it when I arrived, and finished if a few days before leaving. This is also my favourite of my stippled works. I did, however, change one aspect of this picture: in the original his head was really huge, I specifically shrunk it down it down to make it more proportioned. I hope you all enjoy it.

Believe it or not, but I did... so many years ago; I drew all of my fanart by looking at a picture of the original art itself (in the case of the Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters, I held the cards themselves while drawing). Nowadays I try to draw original concepts/characters.

In my experience, there are only good pictures (pending the content of course). No matter how skillful the artist, every piece is unique. I sometimes look over my earlier projects and say: "man that sucks." But then I see where they got me today; I'll do the same over and over again in the future, and seeing my progress always fills me with pride. That is something no amount of criticism, however negative, can ever take away.
So keep drawing, and keep sharing friend; we can only improve eh?

I could consider this very accurate to the real card, and you just need to make the eyes red and your done I guess

Thank you! I haven't done the pointillism/stippling/dot work in years, but I do appreciate the compliments. Still, I think it'd be better if I drew from my own imagination/real life as opposed to looking at a card; that makes the artwork more unique! Maybe I should re-draw this, seeing as my oldest just started watching the show... (Contemplates...)

I do have to say though that with any picture I've drawn using a reference (such as a card or photo etc, especially copyrighted material), the praise of said shading really does belong with the original artist ^_^; which is why recently I've been branching into more original material. Absolute fav from me. I love the darker, more threatening Yu-Gi-Oh monsters and this is probably one of my favourites

I agree, this one and Summoned Skull were 2 of my favorites. While I don't really have any interest in the series itself anymore, the monsters themselves are truly amazing.

Red Eyes Black Dragon. The beginning of something truely awesome. Seriously, in my opinion, my most favorite monster in the anime, the card game, and in general^^. I love that dragon because he was the start of the infamous red eyes darkness dragon and red eyes darkness metal dragon. Your drawing is exactly like the original, so it's making take a trip down memory lane to when the game was new. Great card game, great drawing, and great memories. Instant fav!

I think if I were to do this over again, I'd pick a more original pose, instead of looking at the card while drawing it. Then it'd really be bad ass! Stippling takes a LOT of patience, and sadly I've lost a lot of it (and sanity) attempting it over the years.

Red eyes is realy cool! I always liked red eyes because he looks much cooler then the blue eye and black is cool. Some would say blue eye would always win but I pack my deck with cards like shadow spell and shrink so if Im threatend by a stronger monster I have some strong spell and trap cards ready. My top dragon is red eyes darknes dragon. give him a boost with a hand full of dragons in the grave yard and blue eye is gone.

I believe that everyone can draw, if they practice and work hard (you should see some of the things I drew in highschool... doesn't look like I even knew how to hold a pencil XD )
This one took quite a while, but not as long as most do ^^' I still have a couple unfinished works, untouched from 2004.

Wow, you definitely have to full-view this one to get the true impact. Your stippling on this is incredibly impressive. The various tones and details you create just by using those tiny dots is incredible. Beautiful work.
