they made an error in halo wars, the mark IV armor (the one the spartan II's had at the time) had no shield systems, so they shouldn't have energy shields

don't worry i wasn't sure when i saw it too but yeah halo 2 chief could've only had the battle rifle all the others always have an assault rifle on them during cutscenes

Halo 3 he has a battle rifle in one cutscene, but only one. The rest of the cutscenes he has a shotgun or an assault rifle.

oh okay! which one though? but the picture in this one he has the art style of the halo 2 battle rifle and also it seems that halo 2 beyond they kinda lessened the detail on visor too

Halo 2 has less 3d capability due to the fact that it was made for the original Xbox. And that is how you tell. In many pictures of halo 3 he holds a battle rifle.
