Thought I'd take a shot at building some lore for these fighters,
Not sure if that'll make you like it more but it add's a bit of character to them(even if it's shallow)

Lore dump;
Aspiring to be like her undefeated father, Tako took up boxing. Taking match after match in the amateur scene Tako reigned supreme up until the day she met Emi's older sister Cal. Tako didn't take her her first loss well, demanding a rematch in a shady underground fight club. Tako wanted revenge and was willing to do anything to get it. She went into the rematch with stacks of coins sewn into her gloves...

Cal was never the same after the fight, She was beaten into a coma and her jaw was shattered in several places needing severe medical attention. She never fought again. Tako on the other hand moved on with her career, using any dirty tactic in the book to win. She was on top of the world, winning championships, earning millions and becoming a legend with over 40 pro wins and 0 losses. Until one day her lies caught up with her and the legacy she built was demolished.

Now she resides in a small corner of Inkopolis, running her own gym to train the next generation of fighters. She's gone clean and doesn't use dirty tricks anymore, rebuilding herself into the fighter she was supposed to be. She goes by the name Takoyah now, she no longer wants to associate herself with the fraud she once was.

Now grown up Emi seeks revenge for what Takoyah did to her sister so long ago. Can Takoyah really change?
