Description
Netflix has really been on a roll when it comes to animated kid shows. After the heartbreaking ending of adventure time, we need something new something fresh. Netflix surprisingly gave us what we're looking for. When I saw the trailer for this show, I said my god this is going to be amazing. It's like if adventure time and Gravity Falls had a baby. This animated series was based on a graphic novel named Hildafolk. It was made in Britain which explains a lot considering the voice acting(and as to why I never heard of it). So let's get the obvious out of the way. This show easily takes the cake for having the best animation. You can clearly see all the time and effort that was into it (Side note: Not sure if it just me but with a change of artwork, the characters they'd fit right into Steven Universe). I'd say this show is about a girl named Hilda and her mom moving into the city when their cabin was destroyed. Coming to the city she learns about all these creatures and spirits that are in the city. Already you can see the similarities between this and Gravity Falls. Hilda reminds me a lot of Dipper minus the self-consciousness. She’s brave, smart, compassionate, can make friends with anyone and with anything. The only character flaw that she's has is she's just a child which adds on the charm. The world that surrounds the show is amazing. Just like with gravity falls with all the creatures and myths that are in it. The creatures have rules to them but the rules are simple and they're easy to follow.
I would tell what my favorite creature was but no spoilers. There is small continuity in between the episodes and because of that, they give you small, subtle clues as to what's going to happen next. Even the voice acting just adds more charm to the show. Despite this whole concept was made by a British cartoonist, with most of the characters having a British accent it just add more to the charm. I don't know it just works. Also whoever made the OST of this show, give yourself a pat on the back. The music is amazing it's relaxing and beautiful but it knows when to get intense. In conclusion, this show Hilda is decent AT WORST! It's impossible to hate this show for any reason. This is one of the best this Netflix as ever produced. The characters are amazing, the animation is the best and writing is just as if not better than gravity falls.
I don't know if this will get another season but it'll be retarded if Netflix DIDN'T renews this. Every bit of praise this show gets is well desired. If you have it watched this yet WATCH IT. If you've already seen it, WATCH IT AGAIN! Thank you, Luke Pearson, for bringing us this amazing show.
