I should have put pictures of this up sooner but... things came up.Anyway here you have it! One of my pride-and-joy art projects, a wearable dragon mask!
The basic structure of the mask is carboard and hot glue. The eyes are from a cristmas ornament where you could split it in half to put stuff inside. The skin was applied over the cardboard with more hot glue and some stuffing to give it a little more shape. Next, I put the teeth in. All of the teeth were made from sculpey clay. After that I added the large scales, which are made out of some sort of foam material.Some of the nice features I managed to incorporate into the mask are the jaw that moves when you talk, and a straw that you can blow through to make air come out of the nostrils. The two large fangs are also retractable so as to avoid damage when the maks is not being worn.
Unfortunately vision is very limited when wearing the mask. (you can't see directly ahead of you unless you open the jaws. Other than the the mask is fairly light and easy to wear as it does get very hot.
I am still working on this mask. The mouth needs more work as well as the horns. Sorry for the blurry photos.
Unfortunately I am not all that great when it comes to photography.If you have any other questions about it I'll try to answer them.

This is really neat! Made out of cardboard? WOW! Great!
How did you get the mouth to open, what type of hinge did you use? I'm trying to make something similar and I just don't understand how to get it to open up! XD

Oh i just used those little fastners they sell that lets things rotate. I don't remember what they are called but they look like little tacks with two "tails" that you can stick through two things, then spread the tails and they can rotate. A very inelegant solution.

I made something similar out of papier mache! I think yours is better in many ways though. congrats.

Yeah....it seems when making a mask, one can sometimes forget you have to look out of it. (mine also has limited visibility)heheh. i would have never thought of using card-board. mine is somewhat heavy. Is yours relatively light? And does it stay on pretty well?

It's not too heavy actually. I have some elastic bands that keep it on my head nice, the kind that you use for elastic waistbands. Good stuff.

I made a tail to go with the mask I made..I used that waist-band elastic. The mask itself stays on because it's a snug fit, and it also has a skull-cap. I can lean forward, and it won't fall off.

You should. If you got this from carboard, it almost scares me to think what you could do with propper tools and materials.

That is great. It does remind me a lot of a t-rex head but I think that kind of design would also be right for a dragon anyway. It's great that you have got so many features into it. That makes it even more interesting than a static piece.
And as to the Photography I'd say it was good but even if you don't agree remeber you can't be brilliant at everything...can you?

Wow that's awesome! I'd buy that if I saw it somewhere. Lol. It looks a bit like a T-rex head with dragon horns. But thats cool, cause I love the shape of the T-rex head.
