I dont understand why there are 3 different japanese writings.
And what is this chart used for?

Katakana is for conveying that a word used is not Japanese but most likely English or some other language.
Hirigana is the simple Japanese.
Kanji is the pictionary like way of conveying exactly what meaning you mean by that word.
Romanji is japanese words spelled out in all capitols of the Alphabet.
this chart is if you are unsure of either what something says in Japanese or how to spell something in Katakana instead of Romanji.
