Description
This is the fastest I have ever produced a comic, the whole thing was drawn and coloured today. I'm still experimenting with art styles and methods, this was sketched on paper with a 4H pencil, inked with a 0.4mm gel pen, scanned and then coloured in Photoshop.*Gray--Day I'm hoping you, at least, will get the reference in P1

Very strange, since the movie is expected to be released on October 4th, and the date has passed, this leaving this film unfinished, for now.

That info is outdated. That release date was announced back in 2011, when Disney was working on the movie. But since Disney abandoned the project in 2012, Selick was forced to look for another studio, so the movie's release has been delayed to 2014.

Definitely an original idea, and executed very well. Β If you're serious about trying out this style or anything similar, I'd recommend picking up a felt tip india ink pen. Β Great for dark lines without the bleeding and bubbling inherent in gel pens, and you can get them fairly cheaply. Β
I love the fact that you banged this out so quickly, though! Β As I've been discovering, fast art can sometimes help you learn more -- and learn more quickly -- than slow art, regardless of whether it looks better or worse

Yeah, the gel pen was a 'so what do I have that's black' kind of decision... I bought a set of drawing pens in the supermarket the other day so I'm equipped if I want to do something like this again (might be handy for episode reactions come S4, given the speed).

Hah, I hear ya. Β While my pens were packed away, I found myself using some less-than-optimal rollerball pens for some inking. Β They were simply AWFUL in terms of smudging, not to mention the bleeding if I moved too slowly. Β They did create nice points when ending lines with a 'swoop', though!
