Equius and Wyoming have something in common: They're awesome, everyone knows they exist, but for some ungodly reason everyone just chooses to be total douchebags and purposely fail to acknowledge their existence. Kind of a bad example comparing a character to the state I live in, but that's beside the point. This poor guy is underrated as it is, but when the fanbase purposely ignores him or that he actually existed, that's where people like you and me come in.

Equius has what I like to call a Tootsiepop personality: hard on the outside, but with a soft chewy center. He may seem rude and crude and creepy, but he's actually a total sweetheart if you take the time to get to know him. He also has this impression that with his strong belief in the caste system and everyone seeming to deviate from what's "ideal" for their blood color, he kind of lost his way himself and tries to guide everyone back into their place. I get that he puts up a lot of art of an erratic nature to the point people think he has a fetish for horse porn, but I've learned to ignore it. It's what he likes, so I won't bash him for his taste in the fine arts. Besides, when HAVEN'T we seen nudity in fine art? I also respect that he doesn't eat meat because of his beliefs. Not much significance to the argument, but I just thought I'd bring it up. His crush on Aradia is actually pretty cute, but he's really conflicted with it. He thinks she's beautiful, but she's a lowblood. He builds a robot body for her that pumps blue blood. I don't think that's creepy. It's the thought that really mattered, even if she quickly discovered he programmed feelings for him into the Aradiabot. His moirailigence with Nepeta is self explanatory and is the most adorable friendship I've ever seen, tied with Ralph and Vanellope. It's probably no coincidence that the two friendships match point for point X3

And people say Equius is a joke to the series? Based on the evidence I put forth, he's actually a pretty well developed character that people unfairly take at face value and pass him off as useless and unnecessary. When they do, they pull an unfair Grumpy Cat meme when he dies. "Equius is dead? Good!" To that I say it's insensitive to those who were truly hurt when he died and just downright cruel. He was a very decent character that had some development, and yet people go to the instant gratification characters like Gamzee who developed very little and were only made more important because they were shoehorned into everything. Yes, I said it, Gamzee is a bigger joke to HomeStuck than any other character. In short, every character has to be completely and thoroughly dissected to separate the pros and cons and fully evaluated before a final impression can be given. We all have to take two class periods to fully understand Equius and educate everyone about how amazing he is as a character, complex personality and all. And frankly I'm getting sick of having to repeat the process a zillion times because of everyone who thinks he's a joke.

Equius is one of the most underrated characters in Homestuck. He has such a complex personality, as he struggles between his own common sense and the hemospectrum. He has been raised all his life to believe that there is a natural order to life, and Equius believes STRONGLY in that. He is frustrated that everyone else can't just take their "correct" roles in life, and make everything much simpler. That's why he can seem so odd at times to people who don't understand him. Equius is the only one of the trolls who ever believed in the hemospectrum, due to how intensely loyal he is to those who he admires. Nepeta, for example, he cares for and protects, even though she is lower on the blood scale. He thinks that those on the higher end of the hemospectrum have a responsibility to guide and protect those on the lower side, and that the lower bloods should respect and listen to the higher bloods in return. Which was exactly how it was on Beforus, making Equius actually rather wise. The source of his occasional hostility towards those lower on the scale stems from the fact that none of other trolls respect the scale, so he feels he must "guide" them back into place. That's why Equius is so tragically misunderstood. But he's still my favorite troll.
(Also, he build robots, and then beats the crap out of them. Which is just plain awesome. )

I agree.

I'm tired of people saying how Equius is the biggest joke of the fandom. He is not. He's an a awesome character, and one of the most complex characters of homestuck.

I think every character is both a joke and not a joke in different regards. But yeah, a lot of the fans just make fun of Eq, kind of like how people say "Vriska is such a bitch." and nothing else about her. They're my two favorites >: |
