Raph x Reader (2012)

The silence that fell over the two of you as you headed toward your apartment was becoming unbearable, the only reason it had bothered you was it gave you time to think, leaving you with questions swarming through your already aching head. Truthfully you hoped that this was all some sort of crazy dream that you've yet to wake from. Just how is anyone supposed to sit back and accept their world completely tumbling out of control? Wasn't it bad enough that you'd recently became orphaned? And to avoid being a burden on your grandparents you struggled to find a way to support yourself, trying to sustain a semi normal life.

Waiting in an alley for your mutant escort to give the all clear that it was safe to make for your apartment building, you sighed leaning against the brick wall, "Why did all of this have to happen to me?" You asked no one in particular. "Let's try and make this quick," Raph said grabbing your arm and giving you a slightly rough tug. Moving as fast as you could you made your way into the apartment, the dim, sparsely decorated "home" was a less than welcoming sight. Remembering your turtle companion you rushed to the window and opened it to let him in. Silently he climbed inside, looking around to take in his surroundings, leaving him you head into your room to pack your things. Not like you owned much to begin with you decided to keep it practical only taking clothes, a jacket, towel and some of your toiletries. Grabbing only a couple of sentimental items to take with you and quickly stuffing them in your bag you returned to the living room.

"Ready?" He asked watching you reemerge from the darkened hallway. You gave a nod and followed him out of the apartment. Pretty much the entire walk back you kept your (e/c) eyes glued to the night sky, not entirely sure of the next time you'd get to see it or be out on the surface. Returning to the lair you let out a breath that was both of relief and disappointment. The guys all turned in for the night, leaving you a small set up on the couch, plopping down you let your face fall into your palms, deep down you knew you should be grateful, these total strangers had rescued and is showing you such hospitality, yet within a few hours you had gone from just your average teenage student into some mutant refugee. Leaning back and tilting your head to gaze up at the ceiling you ran a hand through your (h/l) (h/c) locks letting out a soft sigh. "See the future huh? Where was this ability when I needed it most?" You asked tearing up as a sense of guilt swept over you. Rummaging through your bag you took out your earbuds and put on some music. Closing your eyes you tried to relax letting the lyrics wash over you and forcing distance between you and your worries.

After about an hour you turned off your music and got settled under the covers fighting to get comfortable. Completely unaware of the emerald stare keeping a vigil over you as you slipped from consciousness, nuzzling into the rather soft pillow they left for your use. Raphael continued to watch your sleeping frame, "She looks so cute while she sleeps..." He thought to himself. Realizing what he was just thinking he blushed heavily. "What am I doin? Gosh what am I some kind of creep? Watching some girl while she sleeps." He growled turning away from you. "Get it together." He told himself as he punched the hard, cold concrete before casting a glance back at you. "I-Is this... how Donnie felt when he first saw April?" He couldn't help but ask his own thoughts. "Whoa, slow down. You don't even know her... besides she's a girl and you're a turtle. There's no way that's happening." He reprimanded himself. Deciding the mere sight of you was starting to annoy him, he finally went to bed, though sleep wasn't going to come easily.
