The waters were rising rapidly. Rainfeather had to get out of the Clan camp, and everyone else, too. She helped push the kits up the steep gorge, careful to keep an eye on them and not let any of them fall. FireClan hadn't experienced so much rain in moons. As a matter of fact, Rainfeather couldn't remember a time when water was a danger, as their territory was usually so dry. He pelt was heavy and dripping with rain. Normally the she-cat liked the rain, but now it was causing a dreadful anxiety as the swirling waters rushed higher and highers and on occassion her tail would brush against the current. She wondered if all of them would survive; it seemed very possible that some kits may have died already. She wasn't even sure if she would come out alive. Each step became harder than the last, as her unusually long pelt caught the falling water and made her heavy.The other cats' coats easily brushed off the water, and the calico became jealous of their sleek pelts. But now was not the time to worry. Her top priority was to lead her Clan mates to safety, even at the cost of her own life.
