Yes, they are very rare and can be found only in winter, near our eastern border, in Bialowieza Primeval Forest.

Interesting...due to the depth of the eyes vs. the feathers the eyes almost appear as if they are a second rear layer in the image like they were printed on a card and glued 2 cm behind the eye openings. And someone PLEASE explain to me why these birds always look so angry???

I can only blame my russian Telear-N 200/3.5 lens As I remember I used f5,6 aperture.

They are predators... they must be angry all the time.
