Looks like a "monkey" beetle of some kind (tribe Hopliini). I'm basing this more on bodily proportions and (the long limbs and relatively small body) then anything really definitive, though.
(Does anyone know why in the world these insects are called "monkey" beetles???)

Yes. I expected that it is close realtive of Hoplia beetles. I was trying to ID them, and found nothing. That's strange because they were relatively abundant in that area.
