Description
A photograph of the drawing I made of my Space Pirate Captain Harlock Play Arts Kai figure taken from a previous photograph. No, I haven’t seen the new movie yet but I’ve seen episodes with earlier iterations of him before. The quality of the camera in my phone shows but it adds some personality to the piece (even though the light direction is supposed to be the other way).
I’m actually pretty happy with how it came out. I used woodless graphite pencils for the expansive dark areas and my mechanical pencil and eraser for the details. It is not a very big picture but it is bigger than 11in x 14in I can tell you that much.
So, that means that it is technically a drawing of some original still-life photography using an officially licensed product as a subject. But, just to be fair, I made it a "fan art" piece I guess.

Wonderfully rendered I'd say. As you said the composition isn't spectacular but the way you rendered them is beautiful I really like the lighting on this one. It's subtle yet still striking at the same time and I love all the little details you captured in the darkened parts. Great job!

Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback! Yeah, the lighting was unintentional. It's strange because when I took the picture, it looked like there was this big shadow on the side but it blended in with the drawing and I decided to keep it. I have adjusted the image accordingly on Photoshop and here we are. It was just an assignment for art class at the beginning just to see what we could do. It wasn't a real project so to speak. I just took one of the most interesting photographs from my phone of my Harlock figure and drew it as best I could during those couple days. ^^

Amazing drawing!
Finally got the chance to watch the movie all the way through yesterday evening! (and have also been in Harlock-fanmode since then.... ^ ^;;; )
(I've also got the same figure, and had been amazed by how tall he was when he arrived, since he's about a head shorter than the GE 999 Harlock doll I have! )

You're the second person today that I've come across who has seen the movie! XD I hope to watch it someday. The other person who knew about it saw the movie on Netflix but I don't have a subscription. Last year, I tried YouTube but it wasn't translated yet so I guess this is the first I've heard of it being out in the open like this outside of Japan.
