Description
I try to take a break from Beyblade-related art...and find myself drawing Pokemon-related art. I actually completed the Sinnoh Pokedex (for the first time since I started playing Pokemon), so I guess I've been on a Poke-high ever since. Hence the sudden idea to make trainer cards for me and my friends who have OCs for the games and manga. So... yeah. Here we go again, with 'official' intros and whatnot.

Name: Takenouchi Kaoru (Japanese)/ Raven (English)

Nickname: She likes to introduce herself as Ru (Japanese) or Rae (English).

Family: Her mother used to be a trainer, while her father is one of Professor Rowan's research assistants, so he wasn't home a lot while she was growing up. She has a brother, Akito (Aki for short), who is also a trainer.

Team: Ru has a number of teams now, but her current one consists of Infernape, Luxray, Rapidash, Lucario, Sneasel, and Gyarados.

Infernape - Hiro. Ru was first entrusted with the naughty Chimchar upon reuniting with her father in Sinnoh, and being introduced to Professor Rowan. Having since evolved into its current evolution, Hiro is a powerhouse to be reckoned with. Helped Ru in challenging the Pokemon League alongside the other five.

Luxray - Satou. A happy-go-lucky Shinx that Ru met soon after leaving Professor Rowan's lab, he was the baby of the group, cheering his companions up with his antics. He used to sport a punk hairdo, thanks to Ru's inadequacy at Pokemon grooming and subsequent attempts to cover up her blunder.

Rapidash - Youko. On one of the rare times Ru fell sick while exploring, she collapsed along Route 206, awaking to find herself in the shelter of a tall tree, a Ponyta watching her, something akin to interest and concern in the Pokemon's eyes. There was no need to actually capture her - Youko decided to join Ru on her journey then and there.

Lucario - Riku. She received the little Riolu as an egg, after she'd finished training with Riley on Iron Island. Delaying her gym challenge by as much as two weeks, she strove to connect with the young Pokemon, and raise him properly - the last thing she wanted was to rush this new member of her team into something he wasn't ready for. He now serves as a highly capable vanguard when in battle.

Sneasel - Yuki. Ru met her while scouting Lake Acuity for signs of Team Galactic. Speedy and agile, she's proven herself a capable fighter. She likes to keep to herself, though; for Ru, this poses problems as she isn't very comfortable not being close to a Pokemon on her team. However, she and the Sneasel trust each other, and this bond has shown to be more than adequate on several occasions.

Gyarados - Ryuu. One of the young trainer's companions since the start of her journey, this Magikarp has traveled from Kanto all the way to Sinnoh. He proved to be a
valuable member of Ru's team, practically sweeping three of Cynthia's Pokemon when Ru challenged the former Champion.

Other: Though she started out training her Pokemon purely to win battles, she now grooms and raises others for Contests, which she started enjoying only in the Hoenn region; she is also putting together a team centered around catching Pokemon, and is currently working to complete the National Pokedex.

She has since befriended Shizuko (~metal-sound 's OC) and Marts Aspin (~ebonsky-shadow 's OC).

Y-eahhhhh... She now apparently has at least three outfits. Her first one resembles this one, only the shirt was black, the jacket was red with black accents, and she had on black knee-length socks and black-and-red sneakers (she kinda looked like a Ranger, but not quite).

Her second outfit was a dark purple dress, black long-sleeved jacket, and black boots. Since she'd arrived in Sinnoh in winter, I'd drawn that outfit first.

This is her current one. I think a bit more of my tastes rubbed off on her, seeing how she's donned boots this time and seems to be wearing more black than red now.

Also... tried to draw her in Ken Sugimori's style. I'm not sure if it worked or not. (Bigger version of that drawing here: [link] ).

Oh! And her VS sprite was based of Gary Oak/Green Okido's VS sprite from HeartGold/SoulSilver.
