chapter 1 Not normal nights

Hummm hummm hummm. It's midnight, perfect. I thought to myself as I wrestled with the covers. I stood up and walk around making sure the others were still asleep. As I walked past Asha she started twisting and turning fiercely. She's having that dream again. I thought to myself as I walked up to her and placed my hand on her head. She slowed. Then I hummed a soft melody for her. She stopped.

I stood up and walked to the door, and slowly opened it, it creaked in protest. I glanced back, nothing moved. Good. Then I slipped into the hall and softly closed the door behind me. As I looked around a shiver went up my spine. The orphanage looked creepy, I mean REALLY CREEPY.

The floor looked like a dark pit that goes on for eternity. Some of the lights were out, the ones that worked were dim, and the walls were a light green and torn up. I made my way toward the kitchen. I toggled the knob. Locked. "Fuck" I whispered to myself. Some were close by, I heard a noise. But I thought nothing of it.

I snuck back into our room and found a small nail. Perfect. I tip toed out again. Then I took the nail and pick locked the door. After a few tries I Got it open. I slipped in and shut the door behind me. I started going through all the drawers and cabinets until I found it . A knife. I picked it up. I glanced at my watch it was 12:36.

Then I heard another noise, but this time it was louder and closer. I held my breath as I stood there. My knees felt wobbly. My hands began to shake. Then I heard it again then again. Quickly I climbed into a small cabinet. It was cramped. As I held my breath, the sound started sounding like footsteps. coming this way. I clamped my hand over my mouth to keep from crying out.The knife had cut into my leg and, it was deep.

I started listen again, nothing. I heard nothing. I climbed out and looked around, I didn’t see anything. I let out a sigh. I glanced back at the cabinet that I was just in. there was a pool of blood. I found a small towel and wiped it up.

Now I needed to move fast. I need to get out of this place soon. I ran back to my room and pull a duffle bag from under my bed. I reached into and grabbed out a burnt piece of paper and a broken pencil . Then I checked next to the word knife. I let out another sigh of relief. I’ve almost everything I need to get out of here and survive. I curled up it to bed and cried myself to sleep.

"GET UP YOU LITTLE SLAVES , TIME TO CLEAN" ,roared Mrs. Francesca. I jumped out so fast that I lost balance, and fell to the ground. Everything that happen last night started to started to come back to. I look down at my leg, the cut was still there. I touch it, and wince. I look up and see Asha. "What are you looking at",I say."Where'd you get that,"she replied.I stand up "none of your business".

I open the small drawer. I pull out a short dress. I slip off my night clothes and pull on the dress. The dress stopped a few inches above my knee. I shiver. I feel weird... like I’m being watched. I slowly turn around. I see nothing. Huh must be my imagination.

A while later after midnight. THUD. Oww my head. I stood up and looked around. I gasped. Asha was walking out of the room like she was in a trance and couldn't help it. I started to follow her. She didn't seem to notice so I decided to not let her know.

She went into the hallway. I reluctantly tip toed after her. When I saw her going father and father I wished I'd just crawled back in bed. She took a turn and the another turn. Everything around me was getting harder for me to see. Until I finally realized that there were no more lights.

It felt like It was an eternity until finally I heard a door creak open. I crept up to the door and peered in my eyes have adjusted enough to see stairs lots of stairs. I took a step toward Asha. As I put my foot down I heard a loud creak. I took me a second to realize that the noise came from me. I snapped my head up. ASHA WAS TURNING AROUND!!!!!!

I stood there frozen by fear, just waiting for Asha to do or say something. But she did nothing, said nothing. It was as if she didn't see me. Then she turned back around and kept descending down.

With my next step I was more careful. We went down farther and farther. By now I was really regretting it. Soon I started pondering whether I should continue or forget this ever happened.

Then it hit me, I sat on the railing sideways and slid down. Finally I reached the bottom. I look around there was no sign of asha. But there also was not enough light to make out any thing. Then I spotted it. A tinder box, lantern, match, and oil. I crept up to it. I pick up the lantern and put the tinder and oil in it. Then picked up the match and ran it against the wall creating flame.

The flame glowed bright orange. I stuck within with the lantern. Instantly the room lit up. I noticed 2 things. First 2 rooms. Second that that there was dust everywhere. The 2 rooms had words on them the first room said dressing room, the second room said s.. Just s.

I walked up to the first room. I reached out for the handle but stop half way. Wondering what was behind. Then noticing that there was no dust on the handle. I held the lantern up to the second handle. There was no dust on them. I took a step back turned to the second door, and pulled it open. Then the screaming started.
