Description The Egyptian vulture-goddess of the city of Nekheb in Upper Egypt, the Eileithyaspolis of the Greeks, and the modern Al-Kรขb. She was the tutelary goddess of Upper Egypt in very early dynastic times. From city goddess she was elevated to the status of protectress and mother of the king. Together with the snake-goddess Buto she was portrayed on the head of the Egyptian king. Nekhbet is present at the birth of gods and kings. As the protectress of the infant monarch she was referred to as the "Great White Cow of Nekheb".

Since the time of the New Empire she is very popular as the goddess of childbirth. She is also a sun and moon-goddess. Her name means "she of Nekheb". Nekhbet was depicted as a woman, either with the vulture headdress, or with the head of a vulture. Sometimes she was portrayed as a vulture wearing the white crown of Upper Egypt and holding the symbols of eternity in her talons. Nekhbet and Uatchit divided between them the sovereignty of all Egypt.

It took a while, but the inspiration of this theme is all back now, because of some more studying about the ancient Egyptian mythology and their tarot, also had to do some experiments with animating fractals...

Anyways thanks for viewing cq commenting, also on previous design, and Osiris or Amun-Ra will be next to come...

*smile*

Excellent crowned vulture figure. Awsome interpretation. I like the crowns (or is it symbols of eternity) in the talons as well. I sure hope you are making a book of these gods and goddesses or something else as equally inspired and inspiring. Can hardly wait to se Osiris and Amun-Ra.

thank you very much for your comment on this goddess, and yes, the crown is my interpretation of the symbol of eternity, just like the ankh and the scepter underneath her, but i have forgotten one other symbol it seems, like the 'shen' which she should have in her claws *smile*

oh well i wont forget that in the tarotcards i am designing, as soon as i have figured them out

also thanks for adding it to your list

greetings, Harmen

thank you very much for your comments on this creature, lol was a lot of work, made it 3 times i suppose, but was all worth the trouble, its really hard to make different fractals for each creature lol but not as hard as making fractals for egyptian gods who are depicted as humans lmao

and also thanks for adding this one to your

laterz dude
