Description Sorry for the quality.
the picture is much to big for my scanner, so i had to take a picture with my crappy camera

I posted some art on the LJ comm Kawaii_nior and someone commented that i should go further..and try to do some more Trevor brown inspired stuff.
While most of my work is inspired by him, this has got to be the most inspired.
I thuroughly enjoyed drawing this, i llloooove drawing bruises and medical stuff its one of my most favourite things to draw. Medical/gore and lolita.

I felt really restrained when doing this because this is something i would really need paints for, to carry out its full potential.. pencil just doesnt cut it maybe someday. I cant afford paints (oil )

I dont really feel that its finished.. but im too frustraited to really do anything.. so its finished for now..

O_o; did she fall off the carousel? ;_;
I like it btw!! I love the details and those glove-balloons! My dad used to make those for me when I was little in the hospital...and they used to freak me out, haha. So seeing this reminded me of my childhood..in a bizarre sort of way. Great work again!

Spectacular. Please keep up with work like this-- larger scale, with the technicalities. It's beautiful.

x33 Lol, that's completely awesome. Something to look foward to when going to the fair~

Her hairstyle is so cool. Its like, like, a mixture of a bob and school-girl style braids.

It's completely gorgeous.

Rather than comment on how cool it is (it is), or how well done and evocative it ist (it is)...
I'm just going laugh like an idiot because it looks like she went to Glove World from that one Sponge Bob episode. Forgive me.

Ohhh this is gorgeous!

I myself am a big fan of Trevor Brown's work. However, while inspired by him, you are keeping to your unique style with this picture. I love the balloons in the corner there. They remind me of when I was in the hospital and I would do that to any of the random gloves that were laying about. I had nothing better to do at the time. xD;

For some reason, while I would love to see this colored, I am liking it quite alot with the lovely blue lines. They are very expressive.

Wonderful, wonderful. <3

While I don't doubt that it would look better scanned, I still like it. The camera's flash gave it a different sort of light that, to me, feels a little darker. In any case, I love the detail. Her hair has an almost real feeling to it, and the folds and wrinkles are to die for. I like how the gloves were turned into balloons, and the creases in them are fantastic. The cast, braces and bruises all look superb~
Most of all, I like the black eye, I've never actually seen one that was more than someone coloring the outside of the eye slightly dark, where as this actually has swelling that isn't overexagerated~♥
In any case, wonderful work!

DarkDevi In reply to kat-reverie [2007-08-27 00:55:52 +0000 UTC]

:] well thats good to know, Im glad you like it like that. The more I look at it, I kind of feel the same way. Thats so funny XD I have such a hard time with hair, I have absolulutely no patience to do it right, same with wrinkles, so its quite comforting to know they turned out nicely. I stress about that sometimes.
Haha I looove black eyes, im not really sure why, but i love to draw them, any kind of eye swelling/colouring Its sooo much fun.
Im really glad you like it, and I really enjoy reading your comments!!

This is amazing. I'm serious.

It looks so professional and even borders on realism. I could never do that bruising or bleeding effect.

Sooo pretty.

im deffinately not going for realism, but obviously something more realistic so thats awsome to hear!

onewithdarkness [2007-08-22 17:21:27 +0000 UTC]

lovely picture, very well rounded, and shows good perspecitive, also remarkably detailed.

and, i think painting this will kill some of its macabre vibe, in my opinion.

though, go with whatever you feel is right.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarkDevi In reply to onewithdarkness [2007-08-22 17:25:54 +0000 UTC]

wow thank you.

it doesnt matter either way cause i dont have paints and the paper is to thin to support even a marker drawing.
you might be right though, i didnt even think about that.
ill keep that considered in the case i ever obtain paints

AnKouGiRl [2007-08-22 17:01:29 +0000 UTC]

ooh, what about gouache or acrylics? i'm pretty sure you can do beautiful arts with those, like this one ;D

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarkDevi In reply to AnKouGiRl [2007-08-22 17:05:22 +0000 UTC]

maybe ill try those too, im not to smart with paints XD i just need something thick and smooth i can use a brush with.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnKouGiRl In reply to DarkDevi [2007-08-22 17:23:33 +0000 UTC]

thick and smooth huh?... maybe the gouache <3!

hahaha i used oils once and it was terrible >_<... acrylics are quite similar but cheaper and dries quickly!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarkDevi In reply to AnKouGiRl [2007-08-22 17:28:29 +0000 UTC]

is gouache really expensive.. ive never heard about that.

what was so bad about oils (curious cause i dont know about paint)
Maybe ill get acrylics.. are they hard to blend?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnKouGiRl In reply to DarkDevi [2007-08-22 17:43:15 +0000 UTC]

not really. you can buy some package with 12 little tubes... i'm not sure about how expensive it will be. here, in mexico city, a package like that it's around 10 dollars.
i guess the price depends on the quality. but you can buy any just to practice (maybe you need to go to some art-store or such to buy them)

the bad thing about acrylics it's the time to dry they took. it can be days, weeks @_@! and acrylics dries in minutes.

oh, not really, it's very easy to blend colours with acrylics

Majigirl [2007-08-22 07:55:31 +0000 UTC]

It's a really beautiful picture as always.

Seeing it in oils would be spectacular and I hope that somehow you get some and we can all see how great your art is when it's full circle :]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarkDevi In reply to Majigirl [2007-08-22 07:57:58 +0000 UTC]

thanks!
i think if i did have oil paints it might take me a while to get good. Paint, being as expensive as it is is pretty foreign to me.. but i like the way it feels and what you can do with it.
Maybe someday :]

Majigirl In reply to DarkDevi [2007-08-22 08:02:01 +0000 UTC]

I prefer water color over oils....

Water color is very forgiving and I'm no good with paint D:

DarkDevi In reply to Majigirl [2007-08-22 08:07:05 +0000 UTC]

im really crappy with water colours ;_; i dont get them, theyre so delicate and ... watery lol.
Im much better with things i can touch with my hands, thick paint xD
The only real paint picture i painted on canvas was in school.. and i finger painted a lot of it. I like the way it feels on my fingers lol!
water colour doesnt have that. *baby*

The first thing i thought when i saw this in thumb was trevor brown XD. I really like the shading though, and the bruises look very good. And i like that the quality of the picture is kind of dark and grainy. Even if thats not part o the picture it really adds to the mood.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarkDevi In reply to OmahaNebraska [2007-08-22 07:49:24 +0000 UTC]

yea i really wanted to try some more deliberately trevor brown like stuff. its so much fun i love drawing the bruises and stuff around the eyes.
good to know my shitty camera actual contributes and doesnt make it hard to look at

i think this is just fine in pencil. it would look so nice in a black frame up on a wall. i would totally do that with it. for some reason I really like how the balloons are shaded, this is really impressive!
