Unseen, unheard, alone, misunderstood- this piece really and truly encapsulates what it's like being a child (whose unfortunate)- hehe. Great piece- well done you.

This is such a great shot! It really captures the mood that you convey in your title. It's also a nice twist on your style of color saturation.

This is really sweet and innocent-feeling. I like the soft colors. The composition is great; the shot really makes you remember when you were only three-foot-six. Nice work, here.

Ahh... yes, I do recall the point in my childhood when everything seemed huge, important, and exciting. How come everything gets hard after that? lol Very nice job! I must say, as much as I liked your other works, I like your new choice of content!

i love photographing kids, because you never know what they'll do. and unlike with adults, it's easier to get them candid because even if they see the camera, they lose concentartion and start being kids again. nice composition cutting off all the heads and bodies of the grown-ups. kid's eye view.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

darkened-flame In reply to eunica [2004-04-25 04:35:00 +0000 UTC]

exactly - adults get all apprehensive and uptight when a camera shows up. They have much more interesting faces - but they never seem natural. Kids on the other hand come alive in front of a camera.

The main thing i have a problem with is that I feel like im a perv for taking photos of these kids hahahaha. I think the parents think so too lol.

oh well! i got my shots anyways

Very noticable are the veins on the leg on the right... I think whatever you do to your pictures make them stand out more.

Good story, though. The kid looks like he's enjoying the hell out of walking with all these people.. with his little ice cream cone..

stupid veins

The selective coloring is really cool. Maybe there could be a little more contrast, but that's just minor. I remember how it was, being small and feeling surrounded by giants all day. Weird - I haven't thought of that in years... Thanks man.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

darkened-flame In reply to aap [2004-04-25 04:13:42 +0000 UTC]

just thought id tip you off - i didnt desaturate or "selectively color" anything in the shot - i took it stock and resaturated it. The camera just really liked her veins

i started to add a tad bit more contrast but i thought it was a bit dark...so i decided not to. *shrug*

neodapanther [2004-04-22 06:21:04 +0000 UTC]

I remember when things were like that in my life... It was so much simpler I like how it's a single child amoung so many adults, it would be a lot less effective of a shot if it were more than one kid. The ice cream caught my eye, it's so subtle, yet adds so much. Great pic

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

darkened-flame In reply to neodapanther [2004-04-25 04:43:58 +0000 UTC]

hehe yeah - the ice creames were so awesome. They were kid sized....but regular sized relative to the kids (go figure right?)

glad you liekd it

you need to tell me your trick, im going INSANE!
Im currently assuming upping the red levels, desaturating the picture and darkening the blue levels?

am i close?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

darkened-flame In reply to civic [2004-04-25 04:42:44 +0000 UTC]

lol

not even close

try take photo - auto color it - hue/saturation --> saturation +40 - adjust contrast - frame it - post

the key: i take mine in infrared
