To be honest, I don't think the Epic games store is nearly as bad as people say. I mainly made the meme because it seemed like the most relevant subject matter to put on that in the moment.
If you're willing to spend 60 bucks on a game, there's no reason why you shouldn't be willing to spend a bit longer to click around a different store to get it. And if you're concerned about all of your games not being conveniently openable from the same screen, then just create desktop shortcuts to open all of your games, stick all of those into a games folder and then bind that games folder to your taskbar. Now all your games, Steam, GoG and Epic alike are together/

Yeah, it currently has problems (and that spying stuff is a big thing) but I think it has plenty of time to fix that stuff.
In fact, Gearbox has stated that part of the reason they made the exclusivity deal was to give Epic incentive to fix their store by the time Borderlands 3 comes out. Because it's not getting released on the current Epic Store, it is getting released on what the Epic Store will by 8 months from now.
