Description This will be at the forefront of work this summer. This is a piece of glass salvaged from the fire that destroyed my home rink, Iceland Ice Arena. These are simple wire-wrapped pendants, and precious mementos of the place that was a second home to me for eighteen years.

These are for sale in my Etsy store - [link]

The money raised from the sale of these will be donated to the rebuilding fund.

Beautiful. But very sad.
It just goes to show that sometimes wonderful things can emerge from the ashes of destruction.
This piece reminds me of the Star Fissure from the computer games Myst and Riven.

I love the particular shape of this one.

I am amazed at the attention the fire got. There's an article in Skating magazine about it and it made front page news in Folsom, Sacramento, and a few papers in the Bay Area. It even made the news in Southern California, and it has gotten some attention in a few other states. During the cleanup we found that the floor had been horribly warped and the foundation was crumbling in a few places, so perhaps a rebuild is what she needed.
