Description Wow. So... this is what I consider to be my finished version. Thankfully, using Photoshop for this has reaffirmed my true love of Paintshop Pro... I really don't like Photoshop as much; the plugins for things such as smudge brushes can be a pain.

Anyhow, for *rage1986 's contest, I give ye fine folk Quatturoarmus Mater, the four-armed mother. In some sort of alternate-prehistoric realm, she would've been a fine cross between a Maiasaura and a Parasaurolophus (I use cross in the generic sense of a mix of traits, not as if it was a 'mutt' species).

"Though a member of the Ornithscian hadrosaur family, she did not have a duck bill - Quatturos' enjoy forest, field, and swamp equally, and their mandible structure reflects their various grazing patterns.

Though both genders of the Quatturoarmus are unique for having - yes - four arms, the female was exceptionally different in her vocalizations. Like a Parasaurolohpus, she can command the full range of hoots, honks, and foghorn sounds; however, the females of the species are known to emit a frightening and loud 'siren' call. It appears to serve dual purpose; to alert members of the herd of danger, and to startle advisaries. It isn't certain how they can create this astounding sound, but it is speculated to result from the Quatturoarmus' unique nasal chamber and head crest, as well as large lung capacity and thoat pouch (akin to a bird's gullet)."

Hokay, so, forgive me... but I'm insanely tired. I'm sure all of that sounded like nonsense. As for the four arms? Well... um.. this is going to seem like a silly idea, but I figured that when the mother Quatturo teaches her babies to eat, she can reach for higher branches with her main forelimbs and hold them with her secondary arms so that the babies can eat. Aha.

Anyways, I hate photoshop sometimes. And computers in general. I think I had about 23 stop errors because of my graphics tablet and Windows XP deciding to have some kind of cyberpunk samurai duel. What a bunch of crapheads.

I'm going to bed. I might touch this up later.

EDIT: If it was not for *ShadowUmbre 's AWESOME clouds tutorial ([link] ) I would've never figured out how to do the mist/clouds. Sure, they aren't great... but they'd be a whole lot worse if it wasn't for her!

Hey Alex! Remember me?

How are you? I'm currently still studying in Vancouver. <3 Canada!

It is cool to see you are gradually improving your drawing skill, compared to what I used to see in the #rena days. (May the channel r.i.p.)

Hope you're doing well.
Cheers!

Not that I discriminate against artistically inclined primates...

Aha! But you're good with coloured pencils and stuff so... yeah!
Painting really is hard. I admire people who are artistically fluent with any kind of paint... my God the drama that stuff has caused me.
Timeline:
Age 7, Alex finds poster paint in cupboard. Bottle spills all over sheepskin rug. Hilarity does not ensue.
Age 11, Alex tries oil paint for the first time. Oil paint is not water soluble; three pairs of pants find this out the hard way.
Age 16, Alex paints an art project, and gets laughed at in a class critique. Three people died.

etc... X___x

Thank you sooo so much I really appreciate it.
Yeah, *ShadowUmbre 's tutorials are wonderful. I am amazed at her talent and ability to teach at that age too! Not like I folllow the bias of younger = less talent, but just... you know? At that age I was busy with school and everything and didn't have time to expand my abilities X_x
I guess everyone is blessed with a little something different. And thanks again so much; I wouldn't have revisited her page if you hadn't featured her on your journal XD (I totally forgot her deviant name & didnt +fav her)
