Description This comes from a little story in the (awesome) pc game Planescape:Torment. In the game there are these portals that get activated by having a "key" at a specific place. The key can be anything from possessing a physical object, to thinking a specific thought, or humming a tune, etc. So there's this crazy lady running around in the streets, and when you finally stop her and calm her down, she explains that as a girl she was playing in a field where two trees crossed each other, and happened to accidentally activate a portal between them. Out of curiosity, she entered, and ended up in a city. She tried to find her way back, but the portals aren't always two-way, and ended up traveling through a bunch of portals that led to different places. The last portal that she went through, however, was so frightening and disturbing that she never wanted to enter a portal again. They mentioned something about her teeth constantly shifting around in her gums as well, I guess which happened at the last plane she entered. So for the past thirty years she hadn't even crossed under a single archway (I guess the last portal she came from was under an archway). So anyway, you help her out by talking to some experienced planes traveler and he finds the way back to the portal with the two crossing trees.

Sorry for my crappy storytelling ability, it was told with much more grace and impact in the actual game. But anyway, that was my inspiration for this.

I'm pretty happy with how the landscape came out, but I just couldn't seem to get Ingress' pose, skintones, or dress right.. even the hair I'm not too happy with. But, I got tired of messing around with it so I decided to just leave it like this :b

This would be a great pic even if Planescape Torment wasn't one of my favourite games. Since it is it makes it even better and I have an addition to my favourites, thank you.

the piece is beautiful, inspiring even. i know that others may have asked, but is there anyway you could make this piece into a print?

i've been waiting on about three that aren't prints and this one is at the top of the list. i want this in my living room hanging above the tv simply because this is my favorite piece on deviant art by far. there are a few i've got but it seems like i've been waiting forever to get this piece and i think that unless i beg, on my knees, that i'll continue to wait forever.

anyway, enough begging. even though i've never made a comment this piece is beautiful and i praise you as a artist.

This piece has "act of god" written all over it. I like the colours, and I love the smopoth texture of it. It has great detail, but I feel kind of wistful looking at it. It's a great piece anyway! Great work!

I Like A Lot!

I am currently reading a novel 'On the Edge of Darkness'.

ON THE EDGE OF DARKNESS...WHERE PAST AND PRESENT COLLIDE...
This is a well written, compelling story of a love that intersects the past, as well as the present. An excellent piece of paranormal fiction, it keeps the reader riveted to the pages.
The story begins in the nineteen thirties, when a fourteen year old boy named Adam, while traipsing in the isolated crags of the Scottish highlands near an ancient Celtic stone, meets a girl named Brid whom he mistakes for a gypsy, due to her wild, long hair, and her exotic style of dress. Unbeknownst to him, a portal in time has opened, allowing Adam and Brid, who is actually a Druid from the sixth century, to cross back and forth in time. Adam, however, does not realize that he is actually travelling back and forth in time, while Brid is not only fully aware of what is happening, but is doing so in contravention of what her uncle, a high priest to the Druids, and her training have taught her.

Over time, she becomes obsessive about Adam, who is her first love, while Adam, as he grows up, moves on with his life. In leaving the heartsick Brid behind and consigning her to his memories, he takes his life in a seemingly new direction.

Brid, on the other hand, forsaking the teachings of her people and incurring the wrath of her powerful uncle and a sure sentence of death, is dead serious about Adam, and she goes through the time portal in search of him. Adam, who has by now left home to go to medical school, is unaware of her obsession and of the lifelong quest now set in motion.

Over the years, Adam makes new friends, becomes a doctor, gets married, and has a family, but Brid, trapped in the wrong time, begins to haunt them all, as she searches for Adam. Her obsession with him finally turns deadly, and the body count begins, as she seeks to tear him asunder from all whom he holds dear.

It is only fifty years into the nightmare that this obsessive love is finally put to rest. How this happens, and at what cost, will keep the reader turning the pages of this well written and imaginative novel.

...just that your piccie reminded me totally of this book.
