Description There is a time and season for everything under the sun.

The final rays of sunlight strike the walls of the Grand Canyon. My favorite shot from the last trip I took with my family before leaving for graduate school.

I like how the river lining up on one of the thirds, also the composition of the center most rock.
What post processing did you do to this?

This was before I shot in RAW, so not too much processing. Shadows, highlights, contrast, vibrance, and sharpened for DA.

I'm sure dawn will be stunning as well, when the sun rays hit to other side of the canyon

This is a beautiful shot! (You have the option of uploading a full resolution shot on the green upload button.)

Thank you! DA makes it look fuzzy though despite my efforts.

Wow, how did you know I had that question? Could you be more specific about the "green upload button"? Since I began uploading photos taken with an SLR, the DA compression system has been forcing my photos to look fuzzy. A friend suggested resizing and sharpening in Photoshop, which kind of works. But then I don't know how to also upload the full size image without the nasty compression effects... Any advice?

1. Submit art
2.Choose deviation title
3.Choose category,etc
4.Click upload file
Once the file is uploaded, the default is 900 pixels wide.
5.Click on Full view size box and choose original size.
Then your image will be saved at the original resolution with no compression.
I hope this helps!

Did it work?

darkhorse11 In reply to peterpateman [2011-12-19 04:08:20 +0000 UTC]

Yup, but the fact that if you click it and it takes up more than the screen is a problem for viewers.

That's the viewers choice though, and isn't it better to view a higher resolution image to really appreciate its qualities?

Lol, thank you, I'm really happy you like them. However, the quality of these got eaten by DA, not sure why. They look blurry now--they were far more detailed on my screen. Do you know what might cause this?

Shearkin In reply to darkhorse11 [2011-08-22 01:54:42 +0000 UTC]

you are very welcome!I dont knwo I find that all teh time possibly because ty shrink... have you tryed "downloading " teh pictuer to see if having it as teh big version would show teh better quality?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

darkhorse11 In reply to Shearkin [2011-08-22 02:27:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the downloaded version (when you hit download on the page when viewing the pic) looks fine, the problem is the pic that DA displays when you click on the pic. Grr.
