I drew this especially forIt's to be entered into their contest about culture.
I chose the word "optimistic" because in Mulan, the lantern and the new year, would symbolise positive thinking, and hope for the future. Mulan being with friends and family would also be connected to optimistic and culture itself. Oh yeah...AND Mushu, the dragon = luck!!
I'm so excited!! This is one of my best drawings so far XD
The colours are a bit smudged due to my camera. Couldn't fit in my scanner because I drew it in my A3 art book.
Took 5 hours all up
The hands were the most difficult to draw.....and Mushu is suddenly being photo portrait shy XDAnd of course these characters all belong to Disney

IRONY! I was just thinking about the way the Chinese culture was portrayed in films like Mulan and Kung Fu Panda! I was also thinking about how ancestor worship could play a key role in one of my original stories...

It's a VERY long story, and I think it may start to revolve around Chinese cosmology and the view of the Five Elements. (Fire, water, earth, metal, and wood.) I'm not quite sure yet...
Anyway, good luck in the contest! I'm thinking about entering, too!
