I could be cheap and say "watch my redraw's"-- even though it is somewhat useful-- I'll break this down into layers if possible:

If this involves lineart, your background layer can be 1 of 2 things as a base:

1. A layer you use the sketch tool

2. Changing the backkground color heavily affects your muro in theme, tone and general use, i.e:dark backgrounds can influence glowing, while transparent backgrounds can be adapted to stack other images togeather with muro, or any other art program like photoshop/gimp.

Now the Layer 1, you have to keep in mind-- if you use the back arrow (undo), often times, you switch layers--pay attention if your using the undo tool--too many times i accidentaly draw on a layer i don't want to draw on-- like the background or color layers.

You can add layers if you desire, always keep your Lineart layer on the top of the stack of layers-- being on top will prevent any changes to the lower layers to affect your lineart, also draging layers up and down can change how an image overall is executed, try experimenting with switching layers.

Smoke tool is my perferred tool of choice for lineart, if using a mouse( if your using a tablet, go with something more natural to what a marker or pen would feel, or just use the sketch tool). Most of the time-if not all, set the opacity to 100% and speed to 50% or less, which makes drawing with a mouse very fluid, slower if you want to make bolder lines.

I figured out that using the same color will be more bold and pure for lineart, black on black idealy. But if your into coloring, either same color on both layers, or mix and match colors to add a glow(my prefference is light purple + tan/peach for white/caucasian and brown/orange for african american/hispanic-depending on the brightness and pallet).

if your lines seem too rough, don't worry--there is a filler to help with anything sharp, click the filter tab and look for smooth- once or twice is good enough, however- this only works for 1 layer. So make sure you select the layer you want to smooth( lineart after your compleatly sure your not going to use that layer for drawing). Smoothing a color layer is not a bad idea, i just never used it yet--so experiment with the filters some more.

Your eraser varies between layers-- depending on what your going to do, if you use the eraser on any other layer besides background-- it will act like an eraser, just for that layer, that's why it's a good idea to try and stay organized when using art programs. If your going to erase the background layer, then it will become transparent( blank- not even white), if you want to keep the white or black default backgrounds, use the basic tool as your eraser for background layer. The brush tool leaves the effect of a "painting", chunks of color if you look closely-- which turns me off mainly, so i use the basic tool instead for "brush".

Adding softness or reducing will help with coloring or erasing-- sometimes you want to erase with alot of softness for lineart, while when you erase colors or effects, you want little to no softness, unless you know what your doing. Changing the transparency of erasers, or basic with how the softness% is, can give off some radient or bright effects.
I'm sorry if this reply is too long, if your having trouble with a tool or filter- let me know, i'll try to give you my advice. It's just advice, not law, so always be questionable with art.
