Description
Here we have a Cymothoa Knight and a Cymothoa Priestess from the kingdom of Cxolazshtgaz (Kicks-laz-ta-gaz) sometimes simply known as Coasta, the kingdom is a seaside one on Urth that have worked as one of the major Embassies for the land and sea, with the people of the kingdom brokering much peace with the creatures of the deep and opening trade and fishing routes with the Orcains. Near their civilization, deep within the waters, the fish were constantly being infected by Cymothoa, and over time the Cymothoa evolved and became a more formidable and dangerous creature.
Emperor Cymothoa known by some as the Tongue Worm, or by some as the Lifejacker or Mindworm. An evolved species of the Cymothoa Exigua, or Tongue-eating-louse, which does exactly as described and eats the tongues of creatures and lives within their mouths. While the initial species only did so to fish, the Emperor Cymothoa have evolved in their intellect and have learned to infiltrate and infect other creatures. They infect fish and lay their eggs within a fish they have taken control of. If the fish is captured and eaten, the eggs will then hatch within the host and it will do the same to the human. Because of this hundreds of people in Coasta were effected by the creatures when consuming fish, and slowly the creatures grew in their mouths and ate away of their tongues to replace them fully. While initially this led to near pandemic states of panic and distress, and the kingdom was quarantined by the nearby nations with the fishing trade near Coasta being brought to an end swiftly, to the point that several fishing ships that were still approaching shore were gunned down by other nations so as to not spread the parasites further.
Though it was silent to the outside world, it was the opposite within the walls of the kingdom, as the Cymothoa quickly began to take control over the hosts utilizing latent psychic abilities which would urge the humans and Nemerians to action. These controls would often be more like suggestions that were difficult to ignore, and more often than not guided the creature toward self improvement so as to have a host that lasts longer. During the time spent together they realized that the creature could work, in a sorts, as a 6th sense, and grant them capabilities beyond what they were normally capable of. The Cymothoa put out psychic fields which they can use to detect hostility, emotions, a range of energy types and lights, as well as a mental connection to other creatures and grant minor precognition. Because these creatures wished to protect their host, they would use this knowledge to aid the creature in combat and to avoid dangers. They began experimenting on the strange creatures, finding better ways to merge with the things and become one with even multiples of the creature at a time.
Over time they began integrating the worms into their systems, and the Emperor Cymothoa migrated from the fish of the sea to the nemerians and humans, and they began working together to be a worthy army as even the weakest soldier could perform incredible feats. As time went on, the creatures formed a greater and greater bond with those in the kingdom, and due to this they became a privilege to have rather than a quarantined parasite, and the kingdom began conversing with the world again, now having advanced and become an evolved society of symbiotic creatures.
Cymothoa Knights have bonded with multiple Mindworms, one placed in their mouth just as with all members of their military, replacing the tongue and connecting to the mind, however they also bond with much larger, genetically altered creatures. Some of the Cymothoa have altered themselves through science and their own ability to adapt, to become akin to prosthetic limbs, armor, and helmets rather than a simple tongue. The Knights will have their body parts implanted with specially grown and cultivated eggs from the Cymothoa, which will eat away at the afflicted part and grow to replace it. In this case, the Knight has a Cymothoa prosthesis for an arm, which due to it's thick armor it also works as a shield. It's much more flexible and has greater reach than a normal arm, and it still possesses the ability to manipulate objects with the clawed fingers, maintaining feeling within the body as well. It has also had it's eyes and spine taken by this creature, with the Cymothoa taking the place to give him a new spine and eyes.
The Cymothoa priestess is in a similar way, with an Emperor Cymothoa peeking out of her mouth, and one massive one that has melded with her spine and skull. These kinds of Lifejacker will bind with a priestess, and meld it's own mind with theirs, as well as developing the huge bladed protection claws as well in case they are needed, but are usually used as a last resort. Because their minds have connected with the Cymothoa in their mouth and on their head, the creature's psychic abilities are enhanced and channeled through their three minds, thus allowing for greater displays of mental force and psychic capability to bring about prosperity to her people or defeat their enemies.
As time goes on, they integrate more and more of the creatures into their bodies to become stronger, and sill the remainder of the world have no idea where these creatures originated, only knowing they seemed to crawl up from the darkest depths. Sometimes the Emperor Cymothoa may appear in other regions, being sold as a pet, a prosthetic limb, or a mind and body enhancer.
