The Eldritch Truespeakers are part of a sect of the Black Orchard which scribe the unscribable. The Black Orchard is an organization that worships the forces beyond, but specifically the black forest and the entities that have emerged from it. They believe that the black Orchard is the omniversal grove of the trees of life that have withered away, and the remnants of their dying embers that have come to our realm imbue them with a great power, specifically the power of speech and writing granted by the nameless King of Limbs.

Members of the Black Orchard worship and praise the words of their nameless king who walks with infinite limbs, though none can comprehend the language which it speaks. The highest ranking members of the group are granted true sight, partaking in the blood of the Gods and allowing their eyes to be flushed with it. When their eyes have taken in the god's blood they are whispered a single word of a language beyond human comprehension, and the eye allows them to store this information and recall it. The words of the King are concepts made manifest, sounds passed on from the cosmic boughs of the world shadow and twisted into vibrations that ripple the very fabric of reality and alter it's being. Speaking these words causes reality to manifest their meaning in various ways and grants they who can comprehend them immense power. The greatest power of which is the name of the nameless king itself, a single syllable of which could breathe life into the dead or twist steel into wood.

Though leaders learn syllables of their god's name, the previous words, the words of power through the cosmos, are learned by the other cultists and spellcasters, and among their spellcasters is the Truespeaker. Truespeakers are acolytes of the Black Orchard, taught the words of power and made to write and memorize these ancient words so to exist as a living library of words. They begin as powerful spellcasters, knowing many words of power and the way to inscribe these runes, and as they learn they begin to combine these runes and syllables into new words and phrases which create greater magic effects that alter the world and rend the landscape. The words they learn, the true concepts of reality begin taking the place of words of all languages. Symbols replace the word in English, German, Japanese, Spanish, all languages slowly begin to blend into a mess of alien runes, and all words and numbers begin to become replaced with those of the true words.

As time goes on their bodies begin to change. Their brains grow, enlarging and bursting free from their skull, stretching their skin as strange symbols begin to etch themselves into their eyes. Their legs atrophe as their body becomes to heavy to move, and as they lose the need to walk as they focus their time on sitting and writing the divine words spoken to them by a higher power. Their mouths enlarge to better allow the ancient words to pass through them, and eventually they become huddled repositories of ancient words.

Almost every sect of the Black Orchard has at least one Truespeaker somewhere that they access when they require to learn information, and he is usually secluded away in some ancient location to remain undisturbed. Truespeakers that are interrupted or approached by other creatures, may drive them mad with the knowledge that slowly dribbles from it's maddened whispers. Those who attack a True Speaker may be struck by one of it's reality warping spells, and some may actively crawl after intruders, casting spells and muttering incantations on them with a divine fervor.

Similar to Eldritch Truespeakers, there exist Enlightened Scholars. Similar creatures who's minds have been enlarged by the secrets they have learned, however Enlightened Scholars have learned about more, and have delved into the knowledge of other ancient evils and cosmic concepts rather than learning the words of power.

Some creatures, especially wizards and witches, can become Eldritch Truespeakers by accident from delving too far into magical research and having their minds expanded through the learning of too many power words, devolving them into these horrible creatures sequestered away in their huts or towers, unable to discern reality from their own maddened musings and reality... if there truly ever was a difference...
